1. India’s first Regional Rapid Transit System train-set to be handed over to NCRTC at Savli in Gujarat
- The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) will be receiving India’s first semi-high speed train set for Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) at Alstom’s Savli plan in Gujarat.
- The RRTS train sets are being manufactured under Make In India initiative and are capable of running at a top speed of 180 kilometre per hour.
2. L&T Infotech, Mindtree announce merger to create country’s fifth-largest IT services provider
- By market capitalisation, the combined entity will surpass Tech Mahindra to become the fifth-largest IT services provider.
- The firm will employ over 80,000 people, including 4,000 sales and support personnel. Currently, TCS ranks first among IT firms with the highest market valuation, followed by Infosys, HCL Tech, Wipro.
- Sanjay Jalona has resigned as CEO & MD of LTI.

3. RBI okays merger between Equitas Holding and Equitas Bank
- The RBI has cleared the Equitas Holdings and Equitas SFB merger, Equitas Small Finance Bank said in an exchange filing.
- The scheme of amalgamation between Equitas Holdings Limited (EHL), Equitas SFB Limited (ESFB), and their respective shareholders had been submitted to the Stock Exchanges and the RBI for their approval / no-objection confirmation on March 2.
4. IRDAI panel chaired by Yegnapriya Bharath,moots introduction of a Combi Micro insurance product
- A panel on Micro Insurance (MI) constituted by the Insurance Regulatory & Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has suggested introduction of a Combi MI product.
- There is a case to have a Combi MI product which can be developed on a modular basis, giving flexibility to the insurer to offer coverage to different groups and individuals as per their specific protection needs.
5. Under Project WAVE, Indian Bank has launched a pre-approved personal loan.
- The public sector bank, The Indian Bank has presented a pre-approved personal loan product under Project WAVE.
- The Chennai-based bank announced the World of Advance Virtual Experience, WAVE digital transformation project in January 2022 to introduce its first digital product, the Pre-Approved Personal Loan, which intends to give consumers with rapid loan disbursements.
6. Ardeshir B K Dubash conferred highest diplomatic award by the Government of Peru
- The former Honorary Consul of Peru in Mumbai, Mr. Ardeshir B.K. Dubash, received the Order of “Merit in the Diplomatic Service of Peru José Gregorio Paz Soldán”, the highest distinction conferred by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru.
- Dubash was designated as Honorary Consul of Peru on August 13th, 1973.
7. Olympic finalist thrower Kamalpreet tests positive for Ben Johnson drug
- Discus thrower Kamalpreet Kaur, who became an overnight star after finishing sixth at the Tokyo Olympics and the only Indian woman to break the 65 metres barrier, has been provisionally suspended after testing positive for Stanozolol, a banned anabolic steroid, the Athletics Integrity Unit.
8. Dhanush Srikanth wins gold, Shourya Saini bags bronze at Deaflympics
- Dhanush Srikanth struck gold in the men’s 10m air rifle competition on day three of the ongoing 24th Deaflympics at Caxias do Sul, Brazil, ensuring a golden start to India’s campaign at the Games.
- Shourya Saini put the icing on India’s cake with a bronze, finishing behind Korea’s Kim Woo Rim in the eight-man final.
9. IBM Chairman Arvind Krishna elected to Board of Directors of Federal Reserve Bank of New York
- IBM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Arvind Krishna has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
- The Federal Reserve Act of 1913 requires each of the Reserve Banks to operate under the supervision of a board of directors.
- Each Reserve Bank has nine directors.
10. India falls 8 positions to 150th rank in RSF 2022 World Press Freedom Index
- This year, Norway (1st) Denmark (2nd), Sweden (3rd) Estonia (4th) and Finland (5th) grabbed the top positions, while North Korea remained at the bottom of the list of the 180 countries and territories ranked by the Reporters Without Borders.
- The ranking of India’s neighbours, except that of Nepal, have also slid down, with the index placing Pakistan at 157th position.
11. Country’s first ‘Flow Chemistry Technology Hub’ set up in Hyderabad
- A Flow Chemistry Technology Hub (FCT Hub) has been set up at Dr Reddy’s Institute of Life Sciences (DRILS).
- The hub was formally inaugurated by Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce (I&C) and Information Technology (IT) Departments, Govt of Telangana.
12. India’s ‘first’ tribal health observatory to come up in Odisha
- Odisha is set to come up with India’s “only” observatory that will establish a repository on the health of the tribal population in the state.
- A memorandum of understanding was inked in this regard between the ST and SC Development Department and the RMRC, a regional centre of the Indian Council of Medical Research.
