1. 176 fishing cats in Chilika lake, finds world’s 1st survey
- The Chilika Lake, Asia’s largest brackish water lagoon, has 176 fishing cats, according to a census conducted by Chilika Development Authority (CDA) in collaboration with The Fishing Cat Project (TFCP).
- This is the world’s first population estimation of the fishing cat, which has been conducted outside the protected area network.
- The CDA says fishing cats are globally threatened cats that occur in wetlands
2. Kiyaverse is the first banking metaverse of Kiya.ai.
- ai, a digital solutions provider serving financial institutions and governments globally, announced the launch of India’s first-ever banking metaverse – Kiyaverse.
- In the first phase, Kiyaverse will allow banks to extend their own metaverse for clients, partners, and employees, through services that will include Relationship Manager & Peer Avatars and Robo-advisors.

3. Indian online payments market to reach $10 trillion by 2026
- India’s digital payments market is expected to increase more than threefold from the current three trillion dollars to $10 trillion by 2026, as per the latest report by PhonePe in collaboration with Boston Consulting Group (BCG).
- The report highlights how India’s digital payments landscape has witnessed a growth over the past five years.

4. India achieved 10% ethanol blending target in petrol months ahead of schedule: PM Modi
- India has achieved the target of blending 10 percent ethanol in petrol five months ahead of schedule, resulting in less carbon emissions, more savings for the country and better income for farmers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on World Environment Day.
- PM Also mentioned that in 2014 only 1.5 percent ethanol was blended into petrol in India.
5. Govt ratifies 8.1% EPF interest rate for 2021-22, lowest in 4 decades
- The government has approved 8.1 per cent rate of interest on employees’ provident fund (EPF) deposits for 2021-22 – an over four – decade low – for about five crore subscribers of retirement fund body EPFO.
- Earlier in March, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) decided to lower the interest on provident fund deposits for 2021-22 to 8.1% provided in 2020-21.
- The 8.1 percent EPF rate of interest is the lowest since 1977-78, when it stood at 8%.
6. IAF and Chandigarh Administration sign MoU on Heritage Centre in Sector 18
- The UT Administration and the Indian Air Force (IAF)signed an MoU on the Indian Air Force Heritage Centre coming up at the Government Press building in Sector 18 in Chandigarh.
- The centre will have simulators, decommissioned aircraft, aero engines and other IAF artefacts.
- The centre will include virtual reality and AI technology.

- Reliance Industries chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani became Asia’s richest man on June 3.
- According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Ambani who has a net worth of $99.7 billion added $9.69 billion in 2022.
- According to the list, Tesla boss Elon Musk is the world’s richest with $227 billion wealth, followed by Amazon’s Jeff Bezos with $149 billion.
- Adani with a net worth of $98.7 billion is ranked 9th.
8. Iga Swiatek wins French Open 2022, beats Coco Gauff in final
- Poland’s Iga Swiatek won the French Open women’s singles title by beating American Coco Gauff 6-1, 6-3 in the final.
- World number one Swiatek claimed her second Grand Slam title, which she had won at Roland Garros in 2020.
- The cup has been named Suzanne-Lenglen cup & is awarded to the women’s singles french open champion since 1979.
- This victory was her 35th win a row.

9. Dutch film ‘Turn Your Body to the Sun’ bags Golden Conch award for the Best Documentary at MIFF 2022
- The Dutch documentary film “Turn Your Body to the Sun” that tells the incredible story of a Soviet Prisoner of War, has won the prestigious Golden Conch award for the Best Documentary Film at MIFF 2022.
- The film is directed by Aliona Van der Horst.
10. UM Amit Shah launches fourth Khelo India Youth Games in Haryana’s Panchkula
- The fourth edition of games will be held from June 4 till June 13 and the events will not only be held at Tau Devi Lal Sports Stadium in Panchkula but also in Chandigarh, Ambala, Shahabad and Delhi as well.
11. India and Canada sign MoU for cooperation on environmental protection, climate action
- The MoU was signed by environment minister Bhupender Yadav and his Canadian counterpart Steven Guilbeault in Stockholm.
