1. RBL bank appoints R Subramaniakumar as new MD & CEO of the bank
- The board of directors have approved the appointment of Mr. R Subramaniakumar as Managing Director & CEO of the Bank for a period of three years with effect from the date of his taking charge, under Section 35B of the Banking Regulation Act 1949,”.
- The announcement comes nearly 6 months after RBL Bank’s long-term MD & CEO Vishwahir Ahuja had stepped down.
2. The 25th Western zonal council meeting chaired by Union Home and Co-operation Minister at Diu
- Amit Shah chaired the Western zonal council meeting at Diu.
- Various issues related to Inter-state boundary, security, infrastructure transport and industries were discussed during the meeting.
- The Home Minister stressed the need for early investigation of rape and sexual offenses against women and children and stringent punishment in a time bound manner in these cases.
- Western council comprises Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.
3. Chateauroux 2022 World Cup: Avani Lekhara wins second gold
- Paralympic champion Avani Lekhara continued her rich vein of form to clinch her 2nd gold medal at Chateauroux 2022 World Shooting Para Sport World Cup in France.
- The promising shooter from Rajasthan has already won the R2 – Women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 gold with a world record effort and ensured India a quota for Paris 2024 Paralympics Games.
4. Norway Chess tournament: Indian Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand clinches 3rd place
- Indian Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand defeated Norway’s Aryan Tari in the ninth and final round of the Classical section to clinch the third place in the Norway Chess tournament.
- Anand won the Armageddon round against Norwegian after the classical match ended in a 22-move draw.
5. 2nd edition of Awards for Excellence in District Skill Development Planning organised in New Delhi
- The 2nd edition of Awards for Excellence in District Skill Development Planning (DSDP) was organised in New Delhi where the top 30 districts were awarded for their innovative best practices in skill development in the region.
- Rajkot in Gujarat, Cachar in Assam and Satara in Maharashtra ranked in the top three among all participating districts.
6. YSR Yantra Seva Scheme launched by Andhra Pradesh Govt
- Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has launched YSR Yantra Seva Scheme and flagged off the distribution of tractors and combine harvesters at Chuttugunta Centre in Guntur district.
- About 10,750 YSR Yantra Seva Centres would be set up at each Rythu Bharosa Centres level at a cost of ₹2,016 crore and 1,615 harvesters will be made available at cluster level.
7. Fitch Ratings has revised its outlook on India’s sovereign rating from ‘negative’ to stable
- The rapid economic recovery in India made credit rating agency Fitch revised its outlook on India from negative to stable.
- It, however, has cut India’s growth forecast for this year to 7.8% due to inflationary impact of the global commodity price.
- Previously, the agency predicted the growth of 8.5% for the fiscal year 2023.
- It maintained a rating of BBB- for the country.
8. Now the headquarters of IN-SPACe at Bopal, Ahmedabad
- PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the headquarters of the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) at Bopal, Ahmedabad.
- It is an autonomous and single window nodal agency in the Department of Space for the promotion, encouragement and regulation of space activities of both government and private entities.
- The establishment of IN-SPACe was announced in June 2020.
9. Country’s industrial activity jumps to 7.1 per cent in April against 1.9 per cent in March 2022
- The country’s factory output (IIP) accelerated by 7.1% in April, against 1.9% in March 2022.
- According to the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation data, the growth in IIP data during April is led by all the sectors.
- The manufacturing sector recorded a growth of 6.3%, the mining sector rose by 7.8% and the electricity sector climbed 11.8%.
- IIP is an index that details out the growth of various sectors in the economy.
10. Former justice Pankaj Naqvi has been appointed as administrator to handle affairs of judo federation of India
- Delhi HC appointed former Allahabad High Court judge, Justice Pankaj Naqvi, as administrator to handle day to day affairs of the Judo Federation of India.
- Justice Yashwant Varma also directed that in the interim, the erstwhile President, General Secretary & Treasurer of the Federation shall extend all cooperation to the Administrator in conducting the affairs of the Federation.
11. India’s FDI rank rises to 7th position despite falling inflows: UNCTAD
- According to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, India jumped one position to 7th among the top recipients of foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2021 despite FDI inflows into the country declining.
- In its World Investment Report UNCTAD said FDI inflows into India declined to $45 billion in 2021 from $64 billion in the preceding year.
