1.  PM Modi to launched Power Sector’s Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme

  • Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Power’s flagship Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme, which is aimed at improving the operational efficiencies and financial sustainability of the DISCOMs and Power Departments.

2.  Govt signs agreement with 3 firms for Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) battery storage under PLI scheme

  • The companies are Reliance New Energy Limited, Ola Electric Mobility Private Limited and Rajesh Exports Limited.
  • These companies will receive incentives under India’s ₹ 18,100 crore program.
  • In addition to the capacities allocated by MHI under the PLI Program, private players are expected to create battery manufacturing capacity to the tune of 95 GWh.

3.  Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar to present Agriculture Infrastructure Fund Awards on July 30, 2022 in New Delhi

  • Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) was launched 2 years ago under the ambitious Aatmanirbhar Bharat Package as a dedicated Central Government scheme that provides medium-long term credit facility for investment in creation of post-harvest management infrastructure and community farming assets.

4.  Kerala Assembly holds 61 sittings in 2021

  • Kerala, which slipped to the eighth slot in holding the sittings of the State Assembly during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, got back to the first place in 2021, with its House sitting for 61 days, the highest for any State.

5.  Point 5140 at Dras sector named as Gun Hill to mark victory of Indian Armed Forces during Operation Vijay

  • To commemorate the victory of the Indian Armed Forces and pay tribute to the supreme sacrifice of the Gunners in “Operation Vijay”, Point 5140 at Dras in Kargil sector has been christened as Gun Hill.
  • Regiment of Artillery of the Indian Army, with lethal and accurate firepower, was able to have a telling effect on the enemy troops and their defences including Point 5140.

6.  Aditya Birla Health, Policybazaar launch OPD add-on cover with zero waiting

  • Aditya Birla Health Insurance Co. Ltd. (ABHICL) has launched ‘OPD Add-on’ for its customers.
  • This product can be added to existing indemnity plans to provide unlimited medical consultation at affordable prices.
  • The add-on cover aims to provide hassle-free physical and virtual consultation, and offers a range of special consultations.

7.  Parle Products remains most chosen FMGG Brands in India for the 10th year in a row: Report

  • For a record 10 years in a row, Parle Products has topped the rankings for most chosen FMGG brands, according to a report by Kantar India.
  • It is followed by Amul, Britannia, Clinic Plus, and Tata Consumer Products in the latest 2021 report, which ranks the most chosen FMCG brands based on consumer reach points (CRPs).

8.  Coca-Cola takes ‘Limca’ to no-fizz segment, signs on Neeraj Chopra

  • Coca-Cola has signed Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra for Limca Sportz promotion.
  • Recently, Neeraj Chopra has become the first-ever Indian to win a silver medal at World Athletics Championships with his best throw of 88.13 m.

9.  Kerala govt to launch desi alternative of Uber, Ola; online cab service Kerala Savari launching next month

  • The Kerala government is all set to come up with a ‘desi’ alternative to the popular corporate online cabs by launching its own e-taxi service from next month, considered to be the first such initiative by any state government in the country.

10.  Felix, Alistair Brownlee among four appointed to IOC Athletes’ Commission

  • Four Olympians have joined the IOC Athletes’ Commission to help represent the athlete voice within the Olympic Movement:
  • Allyson Felix (USA) – Sprinter.
  • Alistair Brownlee (UK) – triathlon.
  • Oluseyi Smith (Canada) – Sprinter.
  • Masomah Ali Zada (first refugee athlete on any IOC commission) – Cyclist.
  • The commission will now consist of 14 women and nine men.
  • IOC President Thomas Bach.

11.  DSF institutes first of its kind Dinesh Shahra Lifetime Award for Excellence in Music

  • The Foundation has instituted a first-of-its-kind ‘Dinesh Shahra Lifetime Award’ for Excellence in Music.

12.  Country install capacity of electricity generation of over 403 Giga Watt as on June 30

  • The Country has an installed capacity of electricity generation of over 403 Giga Watt as on 30th June this year.
  • This information was given by Power Minister R K Singh in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.
  • He said the Centre had launched Ujwal DISCOM Assurance Yojana 2015 with the objective of the financial and operational turnaround of the State-owned Power Distribution.

13.  ICICI Pru Mutual Fund launches ICICI Pru Nifty IT Index Fund

  • ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund has launched ICICI Prudential Nifty IT Index Fund, an open-ended index scheme replicating the Nifty IT index.
  • The NIFTY IT index captures the performance of Indian information technology companies.
  • The index comprises 10 companies.

14.  Gujarat announces dedicated Semiconductor Policy – 2022-27, 1st state in India

  • The Bhupendra Patel-led Gujarat government has announced a dedicated ‘Gujarat Semiconductor Policy 2022-27’ with a view to generate at least 2,00,000 new employment opportunities during a period of five years.
  • In addition, the state proposes to develop a special “Semicon City” which would be part of the Dholera Special Investment Region.

15.  HAL signs $100 mn contract with Honeywell for HTT-40 Engines

  • Government-owned Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) has signed a contract aggregating to $100 million with US-based Honeywell for the supply and manufacture of 88 TPE331-12B engines/kits along with maintenance and support services to power the Hindustan Trainer Aircraft (HTT-40).
  • The HTT-40 prototypes are powered by TPE331-12B engines and have been serving well since 2014.

16.  Manufacturing sector gets USD 21 billion FDI in FY22

  • The manufacturing sector attracted foreign direct investments worth USD 21.34 billion in 2021-22, an increase of 76 per cent year-on-year, the commerce ministry said.
  • It said the government has implemented several reforms under the FDI policy regime across sectors such as insurance, defence, telecom, financial services, pharmaceuticals, retail trading, and e-commerce.

17.  Ola Electric to locally make battery cells under Centre’s PLI scheme

  • Ola Electric said it has signed an agreement under the Centre’s production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme to manufacture advanced cells in India.
  • SoftBank-backed Ola said it is the only Indian electric mobility company selected by the Government of India under its ambitious Rs 80,000-crore cell PLI scheme, receiving a maximum capacity of 20 gigawatt hour (GWh) for its bid.
  • Ola had recently unveiled India’s first indigenously developed lithium-ion cell.
