1. MoHUAM to launch Swachh Toycathon, a unique competition to make toys from waste
- The Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry (MoHUM) launched Swachh Toycathon, a unique competition to make toys from waste.
- The competition will be open to individuals and groups to bring forth innovation in toy designs using dry waste.
- It will focus on efficient designs that can be replicated at a larger scale, and toys that comply with minimum safety standards.
- The competition will be hosted on MyGov’s innovate India portal.
2. Senior IAS officer Rajendra Kumar appointed ESIC Director General
- Senior bureaucrat Rajendra Kumar has been appointed the director general of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC).
- He is currently an additional secretary in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

3. Air India and Willis Lease sign ConstantThrust agreement for engine sale & leaseback
- Air India has signed a definitive sale and lease back agreement with Nasdaq-listed Willis Lease Finance Corporation for 34 CFM56-5B engines installed on its Airbus A320 family fleet.
- Under the sale side of the transaction, Willis Lease will purchase 34 engines from Air India, powering 13 Airbus A321 aircraft and four Airbus A320 aircraft.

4. Centre gives in-principle nod to Shimla urban ropeway project
- Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) under the Ministry of Finance has given in-principle approval for an innovative urban transport ropeway project worth Rs 1,546.4 crore for Shimla city.
- The ropeway network will have a length of 14.9 km, with several boarding and disembarking points.
- Eco-friendly mode of transportation as the project will be carbon neutral.

5. Ageas becomes first foreign company with 74% stake in Indian life insurer
- Ageas Federal Life Insurance has become the first Indian life insurer to have 74% foreign shareholding following the exit of IDBI Bank which sold its entire 25% stake to Ageas Insurance International NV.
- Belgium-based Ageas Insurance International’s stake in the life insurance company is now 74% from the earlier 49%.
- Federal Bank continues to hold the remaining 26% stake.
6. India to get first car that can run on 100% ethanol and electric
- India will get its first flex-fuel vehicle, which can run on ethanol blended petrol and battery next month.
- The Flex Fuel Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicles (FFV-SHEV) imported from Brazil will be used as a pilot to assess its performance in terms of reduced carbon emissions.
- The vehicle will be flagged off by Union road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari.
7. Adani & family top IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List
- Gautam Adani and family, with an estimated wealth of ₹10,94,400 crore, has topped the IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2022, which was released on Wednesday.

- With 116% growth as compared with the 2021 list, his daily wealth creation velocity is estimated at ₹1,612 crore.
- Mukesh Ambani and family has been named as the second richest in India with wealth of ₹7,94,700 crore.
8. Ministry of Defence signs MoU with Bank of Baroda and HDFC Bank under SPARSH- System for Pension Administration initiative
- The Defence Accounts Department signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bank of Baroda and HDFC Bank, to onboard them as Service Centres under the System for Pension Administration (Raksha) (SPARSH) initiative, across more than 14,000 branches throughout India.
- SPARSH is a web-based system for processing the pension claims and crediting the pension directly.
9. Vice President releases book “Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay- Jeevan Darshan Aur Samsamyikta”
- Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar released a book titled “Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay – Jeevan Darshan Aur Samsamyikta” in a programme in New Delhi.

10. Centre to rank 131 cities based on actions to improve air quality
- The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change will launch the ‘Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan’ programme under National Clean Air Programme 2019 (NCAP) to rank cities based on their actions to improve air quality.
- It will rank 131 cities in the country for implementing City Action Plans prepared as part of NCAP for reducing air pollution up to 40 per cent by 2025-26.

11. India’s 1st Avalanche Monitoring Radar installed in north Sikkim
- The Indian Army and the Defence Geoinformatics and Research Establishment (DGRE) have jointly installed the Avalanche Monitoring Radar, first of its kind in India, in north Sikkim.
- This radar has the capability to detect avalanches within three seconds of their triggering and will assist in saving valuable life of troops and civilians as also vehicles in super high altitude.

12. WhatsApp Pay India head Manesh Mahatme quits, joins Amazon as director of product

- WhatsApp Pay’s share of the total number of UPI transactions remains abysmal.
- It had a share of less than 1% of the overall UPI market in August, with only 6.72 million transactions.

13. SBI least efficient in Asia-Pacific due to high cost-to-income ratio, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence
- SBI’s cost-to-income ratio rose 911 basis points year-on-year to 71.06% in the June quarter.

- In terms of countries, Japanese banks were among the least efficient, as record low rates by the Bank of Japan weighed on earnings growth.
