2. Malabar becomes 1st Indian jeweller to import 25 kg gold from UAE under CEPA
- Retail jewellery major Malabar Gold and Diamonds has become the first jeweller in India to import 25 kg gold under the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between India and the UAE.
- The gold has been imported through ICICI Bank with one percent duty rebate under the agreement.
- The CEPA between India and the UAE came into effect on May 1, 2022.

4. Tata Power board approves appointment of ex-home secretary Rajiv Mehrishi as independent director
- The board “unanimously approved” Mehrishi’s appointment as an “additional director (non-executive, independent), not liable to retire by rotation, for a term of five years with effect from October 28, 2022.
- Mehrishi is a retired 1978-batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre, who served as the Union home secretary between 2015 and 2017.
- He is currently an independent director on the boards of the following companies: Piramal Enterprises, Dabur India, Infomerics Analytics and Research, Leap Insights Foundation and Tata Power Renewable Energy.
- The ex-bureaucrat “fulfils the criteria of independence” as required under the provisions of the Companies Act, 2013.
5. Shefali Juneja elected as chairperson of UN’s Air Transport Committee
- Shefali Juneja, India’s representative to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), has been elected as the chairperson of United Nations’ specialized aviation agency’s Air Transport Committee (ATC).
- She is a 1992 batch officer of the Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax cadre).
- Before joining the ICAO she was serving as a Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), Government of India.
- India secured this position in ICAO after 28 years when Juneja was unanimously elected to the post.

6. 24-member IRDAI panel to develop insurance cover for rural population

- Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) posted the proceedings of its second quarter earnings call on the metaverse, becoming the first Indian firm to use the medium to engage with its stakeholders.
- The earning call, which can be accessed through any device (even a smartphone) was produced in partnership with GMetri — a no-code metaverse creation platform, sources said.
