6. Centre releases ₹17,287 crore to states
  • The Union government released ₹17,287 Crore to the states to enhance their financial services.
  • This includes ₹6,195.08 cr on account of ‘revenue deficit grant’ under the 15th Finance Commission recommendations.
  • India’s COVID-19 stimulus package is 0.8 per cent of GDP.

  • The resolution titled Global solidarity to fight the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)
  • It is first such document on the global pandemic to be adopted by the world organization.

9. RBI reduces trading timings of currency and debt markets
  • In view of the COVID-19 outbreak, beginning April 7th,
  • Markets dealing with government securities, call/notice/term money, corporate bonds, foreign currency, Rupee Trades, commercial paper and Certificates of Deposit will be working from 10 AM to 2 PM.
  • Other banking services (NEFT, RTGS) will continue like before.

10. RBI announces 3rd targeted LTRO for Rs 25,000 crore
  • To ensure adequate liquidity in the system, RBI announced the third targeted long-term repo operation (TLTRO) for ₹25,000 crore
  • It will conduct TLTROs of up to 3-year tenor of appropriate sizes for a total amount of up to ₹1,00,000 crore.
  • Shorter duration govt bond yields plunged after RBI’s LTROs.

  • Which was scheduled to be played in India between November 2nd and 21st.
  • FIFA Confederations also postponed Under-20 Women’s World Cup to be held in Panama and Costa Rica.

12. Official mascots of 19th Asian Games unveiled in Hangzhou, China
  • The Mascots – Congcong, Lianlian and Chenchen which reflect the internet prowess of Hangzhou city and Zhejiang province, were unveiled.
  • The Olympic Council of Asia’s 19th Asian Games will be held in Hangzhou from September 10 to 25, 2022.
  • The three robot mascots – collectively called Smart triplets.
