1. Weightlifter Bindyarani Devi wins silver, India’s fourth medal in Birmingham
- Weightlifter Bindyarani Devi won the silver medal in women’s 55 kg event at the Commonwealth Games 2022.
- The Indian lifter managed a total weight of 202 kg.
- Her best attempt in the snatch was 86 kg while she managed a weight of 116 kg in clean & jerk.
- She is from Manipur, India.
2. Mirabai Chanu clinches India’s 1st gold medal of Commonwealth Games 2022, Bindyarani wins Silver
- Mirabai Chanu, one of India’s top gold medal prospects, lived up to expectations by clinching the first gold medal for the country at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022 in the women’s 49 kg weightlifting final.
- Chanu, who had won the gold four years ago in Gold Coast, not only defended her title successfully by lifting 201 kgs (88 kg in snatch and 113 kg in clean and jerk).

5. Karnataka minister adopts 31 cows under ‘Punyakoti Dattu Yojana’
- Karnataka animal husbandry minister Prabhu B Chavan adopted 31 cows in the government and private goshalas, one in each district under “Punyakoti Dattu Yojana” (cow adoption) portal.
- The portal was launched by chief minister Basavaraj Bommai on 31st July, Chavan mentioned providing nutrition and care for the cows as the motive for the adoption.

- Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has signed a concession agreement with a consortium which won the bid for the privatisation of its container terminal.
- The consortium of J M Baxi Ports and Logistics and CMA Terminals bagged the contract for the privatisation of the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Container Terminal (JNPCT) at an investment of Rs 872 crore.

- A rare 170-carat pink rough diamond, weighing 34 grams, has been discovered at Lucapa’s Lulo Mine in Angola.
- Titled ‘The Lulo Rose’, it is touted to be the largest pink diamond discovered in the last 300 years.

- The Ministry of Tourism has recognised Adventure Tourism as a Niche Tourism Product, which inter alia includes Water Sports activities, to promote India, including Bihar, as a 365 days destination and attract tourists with specific interest.
- To position India as a preferred destination for adventure tourism globally, the Ministry of Tourism has formulated a National Strategy for Adventure Tourism.
13. Indian, Malaysian bodies ink pact to promote palm oil
- Indian Vegetable Oil Producers’ Association (IVPA) & Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to further cooperation between the two organisations to promote the use of palm oil.
- The MoU is expected to expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest, to promote the development and use of Malaysian palm oil and MSPO-certified palm oil.
14. Robot ‘Eagle,’ Fluent In 30 Languages, Teaches Science & Humanities At A Hyderabad School
- A school in Hyderabad has introduced robotic teachers, said to be the first of its kind in India for students.
- The teaching robot, called Eagle is said to be capable of teaching students of grades 5 to 11, in the classroom along with the human teacher and also in a stand-alone mode.
- It was introduced by the Indus Trust, which runs a network of Indus International Schools.
