2. MS DHONI Launches ‘DRONI’, – a Made in India consumer camera Drone, Manufactured by Garuda Aerospace

  • Indian cricket star Mahendra Singh Dhoni has launched the made-in-India camera drone named ‘Droni’ with advanced features manufactured by Garuda Aerospace, of which MS Dhoni is the Brand Ambassador.
  • According to the company’s founder and CEO, Agnishwar Jayaprakash, the product will be available in the market by the end of 2022.

3. Samajwadi Party founder and former Uttar Pradesh CM Mulayam Singh Yadav passes away

  • Mulayam Singh Yadav, the founder of the Samajwadi Party and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, passed away of illness at the age of 82.
  • Yadav was admitted at the Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, Haryana, due to ill health where he breathed his last.

4. Novak Djokovic takes 90th career title with Astana Open victory

  • Novak Djokovic claimed the 90th title of his career and the fourth of 2022 with a dominant straight-sets victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas in the ATP final in Astana.
  • The Serb won in Tel Aviv a week ago, his first singles tournament since wrapping up a seventh Wimbledon crown and 21st Grand Slam title in July.

5. Pooja Patel becomes first athlete to win Gold in Yogasana at 36 National Games

  • At the 36th National Games, Pooja Patel of Gujarat has become the first athlete to win gold in Yogasana.
  • Yogasana is one of the five sports to be played at the National Games this year for the first time.
  • This Indian indigenous sport made its debut at the Khelo India University Games earlier this year.

6. All India Institute of Ayurveda signs MoU with National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, Japan

  • The All India Institute of Ayurveda under AYUSH ministry, and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, Japan have signed an MoU for academic establishment.
  • Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) is a reputed and one of the largest public research organizations in Japan, focusing on technologies and on “bridging” the gap between innovative technological seeds and commercialisation.

7. A Balasubramanian re-elected Amfi chairman, Radhika Gupta vice-chairperson

  • A Balasubramanian has been re-elected as the chairman of the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), and Radhika Gupta as the vice-chairperson of the industry body.
  • As the chairman of AMFI, A Balasubramanian will also continue as the ex-officio chairman of the AMFI Financial Literacy Committee.

8. Panel on sustainable finance submits suggestions to IFSCA

  • A committee of experts headed by CK Mishra on sustainable finance,constituted by the International Financial Services Centres (IFSCA) Authority at the GIFT City,has recommended developing a voluntary carbon market, framework for transition bonds,enabling de-risking mechanisms, promoting regulatory sandbox for green fintech & facilitating the creation of a global climate alliance.

9. IFC launches financing platform to respond to global food crisis and help support food production

  • Responding to rising food insecurity, World Bank’s private sector investment arm, the International Finance Corp. has launched a new, $6 billion financing facility to strengthen the private sector’s ability to respond to the crisis and help support food production.
  • The platform will supplement the World Bank’s commitment of US$30 billion in response to the food crisis.

10. Dr Akhilesh Gupta assumes additional charge of Secretary SERB

  • Akhilesh Gupta, Senior Adviser at the Department of Science and Technology (DST) assumed additional charge of Secretary of the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) on October 8, 2022 after Dr Sandeep Verma relinquished charges as Secretary SERB on completing his tenure on October 7.
  • The Science and Engineering Research Board is a statutory body established in 2009.

11. First seminar of Agni Tattva campaign under LiFE mission held in Leh

  • The first conference of the Agni campaign was organised in Leh, on the theme of ‘Sustainability and Culture’.
  • Power Foundation of India in association with Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA) is currently running a campaign to create awareness on Agni Tattva under LiFE – Lifestyle for environment.
  • This campaign includes conferences, seminars, events, and exhibitions across the country involving educational institutions, communities, and relevant organisations.
  • The conference was inaugurated by Shri R K Mathur, Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh.

12. Primary agricultural credit societies (PACS) in all panchayats soon to boost activities such as marketing of dairy products

  • Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said that primary agricultural credit societies (PACS) will be set up in all panchayats of the country over the next five years to boost activities such as marketing of dairy products.
  • There are only 65,000 active PACS at present, and all panchayats will have one such body by 2027 to promote farming and dairy activities.
  • PACS constitute the lowest tier of the three-tier Short-term cooperative credit in India.

13. Harmanpreet Singh named FIH Player of the Year

14. Pharma exporters body suspends membership of Maiden Pharmaceuticals

  • Pharma exporters body Pharmexcil has suspended the membership of Maiden Pharmaceuticals, the Delhi-based drugmaker facing a probe after the World Health Organization (WHO) red-flagged four products following the death of 66 children in the West African country The Gambia.

    • According to WHO the manufacturer has not provided guarantees to the global health body on the safety and quality of the products.
    • “Laboratory analysis of samples of each of the four products confirms that they contain unacceptable amounts of diethylene glycol and ethylene glycol as contaminants,” WHO said.
