1. New Zealand’s Greg Barclay re-elected ICC chairman
- Greg Barclay has been re-elected as ICC president for another two years without opposition after Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) chief Tavengwa Mukuhlani quit the contest.
- Jay Shah succeeded former president Sourav Ganguly as the representative on the BCCI board, while Arun Dhumal will be a board committee member.
2. UN planning to detect methane emissions using satellite data
- The Methane Alert and Response System (MARS) was launched at the 27th Conference of Parties (COP27) to the UNFCCC in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
- MARS is a part of global efforts to slow climate change by tackling the global warming gas.
- The new satellite-based system will now help governments detect methane emissions and tackle them.
- Methane is an 80 times more potent greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide.
3. MEA S Jaishankar meets Ukrainian counterpart; discusses nuclear concerns in conflict
- Indian External Affairs Minister Subramaniam Jashankar accompanied Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar to lead the Indian delegation to the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit and the 17th East Asia Summit in Cambodia..
- On the sidelines of the programs in Cambodia, he met his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba.
4. Nine New Countries join Global Offshore Wind Alliance (GOWA) at COP27 in Egypt
- Belgium, Colombia, Germany, Ireland, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, the UK, and the US have joined the Global Offshore Wind Alliance (GOWA) during COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt.
- The alliance aims to bring together governments, the private sector, international organisations and other stakeholders to accelerate the deployment of offshore wind power.

5. Maharashtra in talks with centre to get back Shivaji’s sword from UK
- The Maharashtra government has approached the Centre to get back a sword belonging to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj which is in a museum in the United Kingdom.
- The Maharashtra government wants to bring back Shivaji’s ‘Jagdamba sword’ from the UK by 2024, the 350th anniversary of the Maratha ruler’s coronation as Emperor of his empire.
6. Uttar Pradesh to host 2023-24 Khelo India National University Games
- The Uttar Pradesh government will host the 2023-24 Khelo Indian National University Games in four cities in the state.
- These cities are Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Noida.
- Around 4,500 athletes, representing 150 colleges and universities across the country will be vying for the top honours in 20 sports including rowing, basketball, judo, kabaddi, wrestling, and swimming.
- The 1st Khelo Indian University Games was held in Odisha (2020).
7. MoRTH issues award for first MMLP in the Country
- The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) is developing 35 Multi-Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs), out of which 15 MMLPs are prioritized in the next three years.
- MMLP Chennai at Mappedu being developed in 184.27 acres is 1st MMLP awarded to M/s Reliance Industries Limited for which the Prime Minister laid the Foundation Stone on 26.05.2022.
- MMLP is defined as a freight-handling facility with a minimum area of 100 acres (40.5 Ha).
8. Paddy Procurement Crosses 231 LMT Mark benefiting over 13.50 Lakh Farmers with Rs. 47644 Crores
- Paddy procurement for KMS 2022-23 (Kharif crop) crossed 231 LMT of paddy upto 10.11.2022 against the previous year corresponding paddy purchase of about 228 LMT.
- Over 13.50 Lakh farmers have already benefited from the ongoing KMS procurement operations with an MSP value of Rs. 47644 crores.
- MSP of paddy in this KMS 2022-23 is fixed at Rs. 2,040 per quintal.
9. Joint Statement on the 9th India-U.S. Economic and Financial Partnership
- Indian Union Minister of Finance & Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman and United States Treasury Secretary Dr. Janet L. Yellen met on 11 November 2022 for the 9th meeting of India-U.S. Economic and Financial Partnership.
- The U.S. Treasury and MoF launched our Economic and Financial Partnership in 2010 as a framework to cement the economic bonds between two nations.
10. Power Minister RK Singh launches Green Energy Open Access Portal
- Green Energy open Access is allowed to any consumer with load limit reduced from 1000 kW to 100 kW
- The portal will allow consumers to access green power easily through transparent, simplified, uniform and streamlined procedure
- Consumers would benefit from Access to Green Power. Approval for GEOA which will be granted to a Consumer in a time bound manner within 15 days.
11. Report on Municipal Finances: RBI
- The Reserve Bank of India has released the Municipal Finance Report, which compiles and analyses the fiscal data of 201 municipal corporations (MCs) in various states.
- The theme of the report is “Alternative Sources of Financing for Municipal Corporations”.
- Findings: Municipal finance mainly consists of the collection of property taxes and the decentralization of taxes and grants from higher-level governments.
