1. Mukul Rohatgi to be next Attorney General for India, this will be his second term as the top law officer

  • Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi is slated to be appointed the fourteenth Attorney General for India after KK Venugopal vacates the post.
  • This will be Rohatgi’s second time as AG, after his first stint between June 2014 and June 2017.
  • Venugopal had recently indicated to the Supreme Court that he might not be in office after September 30.

2. INS Satpura & P8I Maritime Patrol Aircraft to participate in Multinational Naval Ex Kakadu hosted by Royal Australian Navy

  • INS Satpura and P8I Maritime Patrol Aircraft arrive in Darwin in Australia to Participate in Multinational Naval Ex Kakadu hosted by the Royal Australian Navy.
  • The two-week-long Exercise, both in harbour and sea,involves ships and maritime aircraft from 14 Navies.

3. IIT Madras becomes first Indian academic institute to join IBM’s Quantum Network

4. Uttar Pradesh tops in country, 8462 lakes developed under Mission Amrit Sarovar

  • With the construction of a total of 8462 Amrit Sarovars (lakes), Uttar Pradesh has topped among states in the implementation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious mission, which is aimed at conserving water for the future.

  • The central bank released a list of 34 entities that are neither authorised to deal in forex under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), 1999 nor authorised to operate electronic trading platforms for forex transactions.
  • The central bank’s list has a total of 34 entities.

  • Coming off a socio-economic crisis and the worst turmoil in its country’s history, the Sri Lankan cricket team gifted the island nation joy and the sixth Asia Cup title as they defeated Pakistan by 23 runs in the final in Dubai.
