1. Hughes Communications to provide high-throughput internet service through ISRO satellites

• The service will provide high-speed satellite internet across the country, including in remote locations that are unserviceable by terrestrial networks, using the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)’s GSAT-11 and GSAT-29 communication satellites.
• The Hughes HTS service is using Ku-band transponders on GSAT-11 and GSAT-19 for the high bandwidth data transfers.

7. PhonePe tokenises 1.4 cr debit, credit cards in line with RBI’s tokenisation mandate

• The largest fintech platform in India, PhonePe, said that 14 million debit and credit cards have been tokenized on the platform which is in line with the mandatory card tokenization of the RBI which is a move to reduce the risk of fraud and safeguard customers’ card details.
• The deadline for tokenizing debit & credit cards has been extended by the RBI till September 30, 2022.

8. Pudhumai Penn scheme launched in Tamil Nadu for Girl Students to Get Rs 1000

• Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on September 5 launched the Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance scheme titled ‘Pudhumai Penn’.
• Pudhumai Penn scheme, girl students, who studied from Class V to Class XII in state government schools would be paid a monthly assistance of ₹1,000 till they complete their graduation or diploma.

11. Vedanta picks Gujarat for $20 bn India semiconductor project with Taiwan’s Foxconn

• The project will include display and semiconductor facilities near the largest city of Ahmedabad in the western state.
• While lobbying for incentives, Vedanta had sought 1,000 acres (405 hectares) of land free of cost on a 99-year lease, and water and power at concessionary and fixed prices for 20 years.

• Norway’s Norges Bank has hit a major milestone in digital currency efforts, releasing the open source code for the country’s central bank digital currency (CBDC) sandbox.
• Available on GitHub, the sandbox is designed to offer an interface for interacting with the test network, enabling functions like minting, burning, and transferring ERC-20 tokens.
• The current version of the open source code does not support the Ethereum wallet Metamask.
