1. Adobe to acquire cloud-based designer platform Figma for $20 billion
- Adobe announced it will acquire design software firm Figma in a deal worth about $20 billion in cash and stock.
- Figma, founded in 2012, creates cloud-based design software that allows teams to collaborate in real time.
- It competes head-to-head with Adobe’s XD program.
- The company was valued at $10 billion in its last funding round in 2021.

2. Roger Federer, aged 41, to retire from tennis after this year’s Laver Cup
- Roger Federer on September 15 announced that he is set to retire from professional tennis after next week’s Laver Cup.
- The Swiss tennis legend (41) has won 20 Grand Slam titles.
- Following knee injuries, Federer has not competed since Wimbledon in July 2021.

- The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has revamped online portal E-Baal Nidan for timeboud redressal of grievances against violation of child rights.
- The new features include bifurcation of complaints based on the nature of the complaint into their subject matters like Juvenile Justice, POCSO, Labour and Education.

5. Munoth Industries to start making lithium-ion cells at Tirupati unit
- Chennai-based Munoth Industries Ltd (MIL), promoted by Munoth group, is set to commission what it calls India’s first full-fledged lithium-ion cell manufacturing unit at Electronic Manufacturing Cluster 2 [EMC 2], located at Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh.
- Presently, India is completely importing lithium-ion cells from China, South Korea, Vietnam, and Hong Kong.

- The Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to declare Maharaja Hari Singh’s birth anniversary a public holiday.
