1.  SEBI Approves Appointment of BSE’s Ashishkumar Chauhan As NSE’s Next CEO

  • Chauhan is MD & CEO at BSE Ltd., India’s oldest stock exchange, and his tenure ends in November.
  • He was part of the core team that started NSE in 1993.
  • Chauhan succeeds Vikram Limaye whose term ended on July 16.
  • Limaye was appointed as the NSE chief in July 2017.
  • Girish Chandra Chaturvedi is the Chairman of NSE.
  • H. Patil, founded the National Stock Exchange (NSE) in 1992.

2.  KVIC’s gets Manoj Kumar as new chairman

  • Manoj Kumar has assumed the charge as Chairman of Khadi and Village Industries Commission.
  • His predecessor Vinai Kumar Saxena was appointed the Lt Governor of Delhi.
  • Preeta Verma is Chief Executive Officer of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC).
  • KVIC holds the exclusive rights to use the trademark “Khadi” and “Khadi India”.

3.  Manipur Governor La Ganesan sworn in to take additional charge of West Bengal after Jagdeep Dhankhar`s resignation

  • Manipur Governor La Ganesan has been given the post of Governor of West Bengal.
  • The President of India has been pleased to appoint Sh. La. Ganesan, Governor of Manipur to discharge the functions of the Governor of West Bengal, in addition to his own duties.
  • Dhankhar’s resignation comes a day after he was announced as the vice-presidential candidate of the ruling NDA.

4.  AI-run tool to help Lok Adalats in Rajasthan, 18th All India Legal Services Authorities’ meet held in Jaipur

  • National Legal Services Authority Chairman Uday Umesh Lalit launched the country’s first AI-powered digital Lok Adalat in Rajasthan during the 18th All India Legal Services Authorities’ meet.
  • The digital Lok Adalat by Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority (RSLSA) was designed and developed by its technology partner Jupitice Justice Technologie.

5.  PV Sindhu wins First Super 500 title of 2022 defeating China’s Wang Zhi Yi in women’s singles final

  • Double Olympic medallist P V Sindhu lifted the Singapore Open Super 500 trophy after outwitting China’s Wang Zhi Yi in an intense women’s singles final.
  • This was her third title of the season — having won two Super 300 crowns in Syed Modi International and Swiss Open.
  • Anthony Sinisuka Ginting (Indonesia) won the men’s singles titlewith victory over Naraoka Kodai(Japan).

6.  IndiGo Appoints Mr. Meleveetil Damodaran As Non-Independent Non-Executive Director

  • The Board of Directors (Board) of InterGlobe Aviation Limited (IndiGo), has approved the appointment of Mr. Meleveetil Damodaran as Non-Independent Non-Executive Director.
  • He was Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) from February 2005 to February 2008.
  • He was an Independent Director and Chairman of IndiGo from January 24, 2019 to May 3, 2022.
  • Pieter Elbers is the new IndiGo CEO.

7.  Google buys 1.2% stake in Bharti Airtel for $700 million

  • In line with the partnership announced at the beginning of this year, Bharti Airtel approved allotment of 71 million shares to tech major Google at an issue price of Rs 734 per share.
  • Google will hold 1.2% of total post-issue equity shares of the company, Bharti said in a regulatory filing.
  • The company’s special committee of directors for preferential allotment approved it.

8.  Agriculture Minister launches eNAM Platform of Platforms (PoP) to promote trade & marketing of agricultural produce

  • Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar launched the Platform of Platforms under the e- NAM during the State Agriculture and Horticulture Ministers’ Conference in Bengaluru.
  • The Platform of Platforms under e-NAM intends to promote trade & marketing of agricultural produce wherein farmers will be facilitated to sell the produce outside the state.

9.  Telangana govt announces DiCRA in partnership with UNDP

  • The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has partnered with the Indian State of Telangana for Data in Climate Resilient Agriculture (DiCRA).
  • The platform aims to strengthen food systems and food security by the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.
  • DiCRA is a digital solution that aims to attain the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)s.

10.  Tripura govt. starts scheme to bring dropouts back to schools

  • The Tripura government will restart the ‘Vidyalaya Chalo Abhiyan’ after 8,850 school students were found to have dropped out from schools during the pandemic.
  • The government has also announced a unique scheme called ‘Earn with Learn’ under which college students will be deputed to conduct surveys to identify dropouts and upon every successful re-admission, will get Rs. 500.

11.  PM Modi inaugurates Bundelkhand Expressway in Jalaun of Uttar Pradesh

  • The 296 kilometres-long four-lane Bundelkhand Expressway has been constructed at a cost of around ₹14,850 crore.
  • The foundation stone of the expressway was laid by the prime minister in February 2020 and the construction was completed in 28 months.
  • The expressway originates in Bharatkoop in Chitrakoot and merges with Agra Lucknow expressway in Etawah.

12.  Consumer Affairs Dept plans ‘Right to Repair’ framework to help consumers get products fixed independently

  • The aim of developing a framework on right to repair in India is to empower consumers and product buyers in the local market, harmonize trade between the original equipment manufacturers and the third-party buyers and sellers, and emphasise developing sustainable consumption of products and reduction in e-waste.

13.  First-Ever ‘Made In India’ Surgical Robot, SSI Mantra, Gets Installed In Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute

  • Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Center, New Delhi (RGCI) have installed the first-ever Made-in-India Surgical Robotic System, SSI-Mantra, devised by the new-age Indian med-tech start-up SS Innovations.
  • The ingenious SSI Mantra, is a brainchild of World-renowned robotic cardiac surgeon Dr. Sudhir P Srivastava.

14.  KVIC Launches Knowledge Portal for Khadi by the Center of Excellence for Khadi

  • Knowledge Portal for Khadi is a platform created by the Center of Excellence for Khadi to provide design guidance to Khadi institutions.
  • Preeta Verma, CEO-KVIC, launched the portal.
  • The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Ministry of MSME, and NIFT have established the Khadi Center of Excellence to support Khadi Institutions.

15.  Defence Ministry sets up Apex panel for Performance and Efficiency Audit

  • The committee chaired by the Defence Secretary will identify specific areas for the conduct of performance and audit by CGDA and monitor performance audit reports and action taken thereon.
  • It also shall advise Raksha Mantri on remedial measures to be adopted as well as measures for overall improvement in strengthening of internal oversight and Risk Management Framework.

16.  Bank of India in partnership with K-fintech to launch UPI-enabled digital platform for NPS

  • Bank of India in alliance with K-fintech has launched its UPI-enabled digital platform for the enrollment of National Pension System (NPS).
  • The move is said to help customers in an easy and smooth account opening process.
  • They can simply scan the QR code and get their NPS account functional.

17.  Facebook-owner Meta releases first annual human rights report

  • Facebook owner Meta released its first annual human rights report following years of accusations that it turned a blind eye to online abuses that fueled real-world violence in places like India and Myanmar.
  • The report, which covers due diligence performed in 2020 and 2021, includes a summary of a controversial human rights impact assessment of India by law firm Foley Hoag.

18.  G20 finance leaders meet in Bali as Ukraine, inflation top agenda

  • The G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors, met in Bali on 15-16 July 2022, for the third time under the Indonesian G20 Presidency.
  • The meeting was attended by G20 members, invited countries (including Ukraine), and international and regional organizations.
  • They pledged to address global food insecurity and rising debt.
  • FM Nirmala Sitharaman participated.

19.  OneCard becomes India’s 104th unicorn post $100 mn funding

  • FPL Technologies, an Indian startup that offers credit cards to customers under the brand name OneCard, is the latest to join the unicorn club following a new round of funding.
  • OneCard was founded in 2018 by Anurag Sinha, Rupesh Kumar and Vaibhav Hathi, and launched its first mobile metal card in 2020.
  • The startup partners with various banks to provide credit cards.

20.  Kerala becomes first state to have its own internet service K-Fon

  • ​Kerala has now become the first and only state in the country to have its own internet.
  • The announcement came in the wake of the Kerala Fiber Optic Network Ltd (K-Fon), an ambitious IT infrastructure project of the government to make the internet accessible to everyone in the state, receiving the Internet Service Provider (ISP) licence from the Department of Telecommunications.
