1. Indian Navy launches INS Arnala; first ship of ASW SWC Project
- Arnala, the first ship of the ASW SWC Project, being built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers, GRSE for the Indian Navy was launched on December 20 at Kattupalli, Chennai.
- She made her first contact with the water of the Bay of Bengal at 1040 hrs at the launch ceremony graced by Rasika Chaube, Financial Adviser, Ministry of Defence.

2. Indian Navy gets fifth Scorpene Class submarine INS Vagir
- The fifth Scorpène submarine, Vagir of Project – 75 Kalvari Class submarines has been delivered to the Indian Navy by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) Mumbai.
- The Defence Ministry said the submarine would shortly be commissioned into the Navy and enhance its capability.
- Project-75 includes the indigenous construction of six submarines of Scorpene design.
- Submarines are constructed at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited with Naval Group France.

9. Indian Railways opens nation’s longest ‘escape tunnel’ in Kashmir
- The Indian Railways completed the construction of a tunnel on a 111-kilometre section of the Udhampur-Katra railway line in Kashmir.
- The ‘escape tunnel’, which is the longest of its kind in the country, is located at an elevation of 12.89 meters.

- Sovereign Gold Bonds was opened for subscription on December 19, 2022.
- This is the third Series of the SGB Scheme in the 2022-23 fiscal.
- The issue price of the bond during the subscription period is Rs 5,409 per gram.
- The government has allowed a discount of fifty rupees per gram to investors who apply online & make payment through digital mode.
