1. RBI launches pilot project to digitise Kisan Credit Card; aims at transforming rural credit delivery
- The pilot will commence in September 2022 in select districts of Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu with Union Bank of India and Federal Bank, respectively, as partner banks and with active cooperation of the respective State governments.
- The proposed digitalisation of the KCC lending process will make it more efficient, reduce costs for borrowers and reduce TAT significantly.

2. RBI issues official guidelines for digital lending, effective immediately
- According to the guidelines, all loan disbursals/repayments are to be executed only between the bank accounts of the borrower and the regulated entity (RE).
- REs need to ensure that the disbursal is not made to a third-party account, including the accounts of loan service providers (LSPs) and their digital lending apps (DLAs).
3. NeGD, MeitY organise 30th Batch of CISOs Deep Dive Training Programme under Cyber Surakshit Bharat Initiative
- Operating on the principles of awareness, education and enablement, the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), under its Capacity Building scheme, organised the 30thCISO Deep-Dive training programme from August 22-26, 2022.

4. NASA captures 1st direct image of exoplanet outside our solar system
- For the first time, astronomers have used NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope to take a direct image of a planet outside our solar system.
- The exoplanet called ‘HIP 65426 b’ is a gas giant, meaning it has no rocky surface and could not be habitable.
- The exoplanet is about 6 to 12 times the mass of Jupiter, and these observations could help narrow that down even further.

5. ACC names Captain B K Tyagi as the new CMD of Shipping Corporation of India
- The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has signed off on the proposal to appoint Captain Binesh Kumar Tyagi as the new chairman and managing director of Shipping Corporation of India Ltd (SCI).
- The appointment is for five years from the date of assumption of charge of the post, or till the date of his superannuation, or until further orders.
6. SBI Card launches ‘CASHBACK SBI Card’ with 1% to 5% cashback for customers
- SBI Card announced the launch of ‘cashback SBI Card’ that enables cardholders to earn 5% cashback on all online spending without any merchant restrictions.
- As per a press statement, consumers across India, including those in tier 2 and 3 cities, can apply for ‘cashback SBI Card’ from the comfort of their homes through the digital application platform ‘SBI Card SPRINT’.

- The All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has signed a partnership agreement with Adobe to accelerate digital creativity skills across the country.

10. Govt gives nod to 3 states to set up bulk drug parks to boost pharma production
- The Department of Pharmaceuticals has given ‘in-principle’ approval to the proposals of the three states – Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh – under the Scheme for ‘Promotion of Bulk Drug Parks’, an initiative to support drugs manufacturing in the country.
- The scheme, notified in 2020 has a financial outlay of Rs 3,000 crores.
- The Indian pharmaceutical industry is the third largest in the world by volume.
11. UPI clocks 657 crore transactions in August, totalling Rs 10.73 lakh crore
- The value of Unified Payments Interface (UPI)-based digital payments in August 2022 crossed Rs 10.73 lakh crore, which is marginally higher than Rs 10.63 lakh crore clocked in July month of the same year, according to the latest data from the National Payments Corporation of India (NCPI).
- The number of Aadhaar-based ‘AePS’ transactions declined to 10.56 crore in August from 11 crores in July.
- The term AePS stands for Aadhaar Enabled Payments Systems.

14. August GST revenue collection up 28% YoY at Rs 1.44 lakh cr
- The gross GST revenue collected in the month of August 2022 stood at Rs 1,43,612 crore, up 28% on a year-on-year basis, the Finance Ministry said in a statement With this, the monthly GST revenues have exceeded Rs 1.4 lakh crore for six months in a row.
- In July, the GST collection was Rs 1.49 lakh crore, the second-highest level since its introduction in July 2017.
