1. WEST: I-STEM’s new initiative to bridge the gender skill-gap
- Women in Engineering, Science, and Technology (WEST): A new I-STEM initiative Launched
- On September 5, 2022, a new I-STEM (Indian Science Technology and Engineering facilities Map) initiative called ‘Women in Engineering, Science, and Technology (WEST)’ was launched by Dr. Parvinder Maini, Scientific Secretary, Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) to GOI.
2. NASA experiment Moxie, successfully produces oxygen on Mars
- The MIT-led Mars Oxygen In-Situ Resource Utilization Experiment, or MOXIE, has been successfully making oxygen from the Red Planet’s carbon-dioxide-rich atmosphere since April 2021, about two months after it touched down on the Martian surface as part of NASA’s Perseverance rover and Mars 2020 mission.
- MOXIE has shown that it can make oxygen at almost any time of the Martian day and year.
3. India successfully test-fires Quick Reaction Surface to Air missile in Odisha coast
- Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Army have successfully completed six flight-tests of the Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile (QRSAM) system from Integrated Test Range (ITR) Chandipur off the Odisha coast.
- The flight tests were conducted as part of evaluation trials by the Indian Army.
4. Legendary Bhojpuri traditional dance artist Ram Chandra Manjhi passes away
- In Bihar, the doyen of Bhojpuri folk theatre art “Launda Naach” and legendary artist Ram Chandra Manjhi passed away.
- 97-year old Manjhi breathed his last in a hospital in Patna.
- He was born in a family of weaker section of society in a riverine village Tujarpur in the Nagra block of Saran district in Bihar.
5. GST wing of CBIC conducts tax inspections against insurance companies
- The Goods and Services Tax wing of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has carried out tax searches and inspections against several insurance companies.
- The list of companies the tax sleuths have visited includes several of the major life and non-life insurers.
6. NTPC acquires 600 MW Jhabua power plant for Rs 925 crore
- India’s largest integrated power producer NTPC has successfully acquired Jhabua Power Limited (JPL) through Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process initiated by National Company Law Tribunal, Kolkata, (NCLT).
- This is the first acquisition of a power asset by NTPC through the NCLT route.
- JPL has an operational thermal power capacity of 600 MW located in Seoni, Madhya Pradesh.
7. Lok Nayak Foundation Sahitya Puraskar awarded to Tanikella Bharani in Visakhapatnam
- Telugu author and actor, Tanikella Bharani was introduced with the annual Sahitya Puraskar of the Loknayak Basis (18th Loknayak Basis Award) at an award ceremony held at Kalabharathi Auditorium, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
8. Ajit Kumar Saxena selected for CMD post in MOIL Limited
- Public enterprises selection board (PESB) selected Ajit Kumar Saxena for the post of Chairman & Managing Director of “A” Miniratna Category-I Company, MOIL Limited.
- Currently, he is serving as Director (Operations) in Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL).
- MOIL Limited is the largest producer of manganese ore in India.
9. Mr Dinesh Kumar Batra takes charge as CMD, BEL
- Mr Dinesh Kumar Batra, Director (Finance) & CFO, has taken additional charge as Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).
- He is a member of the Board of BEL subsidiaries, BEL-Thales Systems Limited (BTSL) and BEL Optronic Devices Limited (BELOP).
10. Pankaj Gupta appointed as Chairman & Managing Director (Additional Charge) of HMT Limited
- Pankaj Gupta has been entrusted with the additional charge of the post of Chairman & Managing Director, HMT Limited.
- HMT was conceived by the Government of India in 1949, and was incorporated in 1953, with the objective of producing a limited range of machine tools, required for building an industrial edifice for the country.

- India-Bangladesh delegation level talks led by PM Narendra Modi & PM Sheikh Hasina commenced.

12. NITI Aayog and BMZ hold the inaugural Dialogue on Development Cooperation
- NITI Aayog and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) held the inaugural NITI-BMZ Dialogue of Development Cooperation via video conferencing to lay down a pathway to strengthen mutual cooperation between the two countries, particularly to reconcile the imperatives of dealing with climate change with the goals of Agenda 2030.

13. India’s first intranasal COVID vaccine by Bharat Biotech gets DCGI approval
- Bharat Biotech’s intranasal COVID-19 vaccine candidate has been approved by the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI), Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said.
- This is India’s first intra-nasal COVID-19 vaccine Which will be used for primary immunization against COVID-19 in the 18+ age group for restricted use in emergency situations.

- He is replacing Ronojoy Dutta, who decided to retire on September 30.
- Prior to this, Elbers was associated with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines as the CEO.
