1. India to host G20 Summit in Sept 2023, hold over 200 meetings during its Presidency

• India will host the G-20 leaders’ summit in New Delhi on September 9 and 10 in 2023 under its Presidency.
• India will assume the Presidency of the G20 for one year from December 1, 2022, to November 30, 2023, and is expected to host over 200 meetings across the country, beginning in December this year.
• Collectively, the G20 accounts for 85 percent of global GDP.

  • The G20 or Group of Twenty is an intergovernmental forum comprising 19 countries and the European Union (EU).
  • It works to address major issues related to the global economy, such as international financial stability, climate change mitigation, and sustainable development.

2. BharatPe appoints Ex RBI deputy governor BP Kanungo and Zomato chairman Kaushik Dutta to its board

• Fintech payments platform BharatPe has roped in former RBI deputy governor B P Kanungo and TARI co-founder Kaushik Dutta as independent directors.
• Kanungo recently worked as the deputy governor of RBI from 2017-2021.
• He joined the central bank in 1982.

3. Election Commission weeds out 253 Registered Unrecognised Political Parties (RUPPs), bars them from availing benefits of the symbol order, 1968

• The Election Commission of India (ECI) led by Chief Election Commissioner, Shri Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioner Shri Anup Chandra Pandey further delisted 86 non-existent RUPPs and declared an additional 253 as ‘Inactive RUPPs’.
• This action against 339 non-compliant RUPPs takes the tally to 537 defaulting RUPPs since May 25, 2022.

4. All India Institute of Ayurveda launches 6-week programme for Ayurveda Day

• All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), under the Ministry of Ayush, launched the Ayurveda Day 2022 programme.
• AIIA has been chosen as the nodal agency for driving the Ministry of Ayush’s mandate for Ayurveda Day this year.
• The theme for the celebration is ‘Har Din Har Ghar Ayurveda’.

• The Ministry of Ayush was formed on the 9th of November 2014.

5. Lieutenant Governor RK Mathur inaugurates Ladakh Screenwriters Fair in Leh

• Ladakh Lieutenant Governor RK Mathur virtually inaugurated a 5-day Ladakh Screenwriters Fair in Leh.
• Fundamentals of screenwriting, sketching the Character’s arc, Writing for Documentary, Episode Writing, OTT and Marketing will be explained during the Fair.

6. Early Intervention Centre “Prayas” inaugurated at Army Hospital(R&R)

• To alleviate the suffering and instil confidence in parents in dealing with differently abled children a model “Early Intervention Centre- Prayas” has been established at Army Hospital (Research & Referral).
• The “Early Intervention Centre” is a comprehensive state-of-the-art facility which is dedicated to the children with special needs.
• The Centre was inaugurated by Archana Pande, President, Army Wives Welfare Association.

7. Axis Bank, Square Yards launch Open Doors for hassle-free home buying

• Axis Bank and Square Yards have announced the launch of ‘Open Doors’, a co-branded Home Buyer Ecosystem.

8. American Express India Appoints Sanjay Khanna as CEO

• American Express Banking Corp (AEBC) has announced the appointment of Sanjay Khanna as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Country Manager of AEBC Corp India.
• Khanna heads the country’s executive team and is responsible for driving growth across the organisation’s consumer and commercial businesses.

9. India and Japan Hold 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue

• The two countries held their 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue in Tokyo, for which both India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh travelled to Japan.
• The India-Japan engagement has been enhanced both on the bilateral front as well as in minilateral formats such as the Quad in recent years.

• Firouzja also grabbed an extra $100,000 for winning this year’s Grand Chess Tour.
• Wesley So and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave came in second and third place, respectively.
• The fifth leg of the Grand Chess Tour, the Sinquefield Cup was held in Saint Louis, Missouri, US.

11. MeitY Startup Hub and Meta collaborate to accelerate XR technology startups in India

• Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Startup Hub in collaboration with Meta will launch a programme to support and accelerate XR technology startups across India.
• This collaboration is part of the Government’s efforts for skilling in emerging and future technologies.

12. Dr. Vinod K. Paul, Member (Health) of NITI Aayog releases National Health Estimates (2018-19)

• As per National Health Accounts (NHA) estimates for India 2018-19 which was released in September 2022 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the per capita government spending on healthcare has increased by 74 per cent since 2013-14.
• The government’s share in total Health Expenditure has increased from 28.6 percent in 2013-14 to 40.6 per cent in 2018-19.

13. Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) comes out with handbook on safety in electrical installations, simplified version of NBC 2016

• Piyush Goyal, Minister for Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, and Textile, during the fourth Governing Council Meeting of BIS released handbook on the subject “Safety in Electrical Installations – A way forward to Safety by National Electrical Code of India” and Guide for Using National Building Code of India 2016.

14. HDFC Bank issues India’s first Electronic Bank Guarantee (e-BG)

• HDFC Bank, India’s largest private sector bank became the first bank in the country to issue an Electronic Bank Guarantee (e-BG) in partnership with National E-Governance Services Limited (NeSL).
• e-BG has been developed in consultation with NeSL, CVC-CBI committee, and Indian Banks’ Association to simplify the process and eliminate the possibility of fraud and manipulation.

15. KN Singh, the Chief Justice of India with the shortest tenure, passes away

• Former Chief Justice of India Kamal Narain Singh passed away.
• Justice Narain had a tenure of only 17 days as the CJI, making him the chief justice with the shortest tenure.
• He was the 22nd Chief Justice of India, with a term from November 25, 1991 to December 12, 1991.
