1. Top order batter of West Indies Lendl Simmons announces retirement from international cricket
- Veteran West Indies batter Lendl Simmons called time on his international career, which spanned almost 16 years.
- Having made his debut in 2006, Simmons has represented the Men in Maroons in eight Tests, 68 ODIs and as many T20Is.
2. RBI imposes restrictions on Mumbai-based Raigad Sahakari Bank; withdrawals capped at Rs 15,000
- Banking regulator Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposed several restrictions on Mumbai-based co-operative bank Raigad Sahakari Bank due to worsening financial situation of the lender.
- The restrictions include a withdrawal cap of Rs 15,000 per customer and it will remain in force for a period of six months.
3. England all-rounder Ben Stokes announces retirement from ODI
- Stokes, 31, said the first ODI between England and South Africa in Durham would be his last in the format, adding that it was “an incredibly tough decision”.
- After making his ODI debut against Ireland in 2011, Stokes has scored 2919 runs, including three centuries, and taken 74 wickets in the format.
4. Bangladesh star batter Tamim Iqbal announces retirement from T-20 international
- Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal has announced his retirement from T20Is and his decision came shortly after his side defeated West Indies 3-0 in the three-match ODI series.
- Having made his T20I debut in 2007, Tamim retired as Bangladesh’s third-highest run-getter in the format with 1701 runs in 74 matches at an average of 24.65 and strike rate of 117.47.

- Indian Grandmaster Aravindh Chithambaram emerged the winner in the 41st Villa De Benasque International Chess Open after edging Armenia’s Robert Hovhannisyan and compatriot Raunak Sadhwani on the basis of a tie-break score.
- Chithambaram, a former national champion, took the top prize on the basis of a superior tie-break score.
7. Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) suspends MD and CEO GYV Victor
- G Y V Victor, Dredging Corporation of India (DCIL) CEO and managing director has been suspended.
- It was established that there has been suppression of facts, material misrepresentation of facts, fake claims and false claims in support of his experience criteria.

8. Syngenta India launches Biodiversity Sensor Project to monitor farm insects
- Syngenta India announced the launch of Biodiversity Sensor Project, a biodiversity monitoring technology in association with IIT Ropar.
- Syngenta also flagged off India’s first Drone Yatra, which will travel 10,000 kms to create awareness on drone spraying among 10,000 farmers.
- The Yatra will travel to 13 states to demonstrate and educate farmers on use of drones.
9. India’s Mairaj Ahmad Khan scripts history with gold medal in skeet at ISSF World Cup
- Two-time Olympian Mairaj Ahmad Khan created history by becoming the first Indian shooter to win the gold medal in the men’s skeet event at the ISSF World Cup in Changwon, South Korea.
- Anjum Moudgil, Sift Kaur Samra and Ashi Chouksey won the bronze medal in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions team event.
- Mairaj Ahmad Khan topped the round with 27 hits.
10. Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa claims Paracin Open ‘A’ chess tournament 2022 title in Serbia
- Young Indian Grand Master R Praggnanandhaa added another feather to his cap by winning the Open A section of the 15th International Chess Open Paracin by scoring eight points from the nine rounds.
- The tournament was held in the town of Paracin in Serbia.
- Russian player Alexandr Predke playing under the flag of FIDE, the sport’s world governing body, claimed the second spot.
11. After 35 years of service INS Sindhudhvaj submarine decommissioned
- The Navy’s Kilo-class submarine, INS Sindhudhvaj, was decommissioned from service at Visakhapatnam after 35 years in service.
- With this, the Navy now has 15 conventional submarines in service.
- INS Sindhudhvaj was the only submarine to be awarded the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) rolling trophy for Innovation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
12. Australia Tennis star Lleyton Hewitt inducted into Hall of Fame
- Lleyton Hewitt, a two-time Grand Slam champion and former world number one, was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
- The Aussie icon won his first Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) title in Adelaide in 1998 and his last in 2014 at the Hall of Fame Open, defeating Ivo Karlovic.
- Hewitt won the 2001 US Open and 2002 Wimbledon title.
13. Army Chief General Manoj Pande leaves for three-day visit to Bangladesh
- Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Manoj Pande has proceeded on a 3-day visit to Bangladesh from 18-20 July.
- This is the first foreign visit of General Manoj Pande since assumption as Army Chief.
- During his visit, he will interact with the members of the Bangladesh Institute of Peace Support and Operation Training (BIPSOT).
- Manoj Pande is the 29th Chief of the Army Staff.
14. Ex-Union minister Margaret Alva to be opposition’s candidate for Vice President’s post
- Margaret Alva will be the opposition’s candidate for Vice President.
- NCP Chief Sharad Pawar said, 17 parties are on board for this unanimous decision.
- Mrs Alva has been Member of Rajya Sabha four times and once of Lok Sabha.
- She has also served as Union Minister and Governor of Uttarakhand and Rajasthan.
- Venkaiah Naidu is serving as the 13th and current Vice President of India.
15. India achieves major landmark of ‘200 Crore’ COVID-19 Vaccinations
- In a historic achievement, India’s cumulative COVID-19 vaccination drive has surpassed the 200-Crore milestone.
- India supported the research, development and manufacturing of COVID19 vaccines under the “Make-in-India” and “Make-for-World” Strategy, embarked on the use of cutting-edge technologies like CoWI.
- India’s nation-wide COVID19 vaccination program was launched by the PM on 16th January.
16. Remittances from advanced nations beat flows from Gulf region in FY21
- The share of remittances from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region in India’s inward remittances is estimated to have declined from more than 50 per cent in 2016 – 17 to about 30 per cent in 2020 – 21, according to the Reserve Bank of India’s fifth round of Survey on Remittances.
- The US surpassed the UAE as the top source country, accounting for 23 % of total remittance.

17. ITBP creates 1st mountain-warfare training school in NE for LAC guarding troops
- The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has created its first mountain-warfare training centre in northeast India, its second overall, to skill its troops in high-altitude combat and survival tactics as part of their mandate to guard the Line of Actual Control with China.
- The M&SI is located at a height of more than 9,000 ft in the Himalayan ranges of Uttarakhand.

18. India, China hold 16th round of Corps Commander talks
- India and China held the 16th round of Corps Commander level talks for over 12 hours as the two sides attempted to revive the stalled process of disengagement and de-escalation in Eastern Ladakh.
- The Indian side is led by Lt Gen Anindya Sengupta, 14 Corps Commander.
- The 15th round of Corps Commander talks took place on March 11, 2022.
19. Airtel announces successful trial of India’s first 5G private network
- Bharti Airtel has successfully deployed the country’s first 5G private network at Bosch Automotive Electronics India (RBAI) facility in Bengaluru.
- Airtel said its 5G solution helped Bosch shop floor managers and operators identify and resolve issues in real time, thus reducing the Mean Time To Repair (MTTR ) and Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).
20. Centre amends legal metrology rules 2011 for ease of doing business
- The Department of Consumer Affairs vide the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities), (Second Amendment) Rules 2022 has allowed electronic products to declare certain mandatory declarations through the QR Code for a period of one year, if not declared in the package itself.
