India To Host International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session In 2023 After 40 Years

  • India won the right to host the 2023 International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) session in Mumbai in an unopposed race, during the 139th IOC Session in Beijing, China.
  • This will be the second IOC session in India.
  • The IOC session is the general meeting of the Members of the IOC.
  • It is the IOC’s supreme organ, and its decisions are final.
  • The country last hosted an IOC session in 1983 in New Delhi.

Rakesh Gangwal Quits IndiGo Board, To Pare Stake Over 5 Years

  • InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. ‘s co-founder Rakesh Gangwal quit the carrier’s board and will pare his stake in the company over five years, ceding control to co-promoter Rahul Bhatia after a truce.
  • Gangwal has resigned as non-executive, non-independent director of InterGlobe Aviation, the parent of India’s largest carrier IndiGo with immediate effect.

Ranji Trophy 2022: Bihar batter Sakibul Gani scripts world record with a triple hundred on first-class debut

  • Bihar batter Sakibul Gani created a new world record for the highest score by a batter on debut in first-class cricket.
  • Gani scored 341 runs for Bihar against Mizoram in their Plate group opening match at the Jadavpur University Campus 2nd Ground, Kolkata.
  • Gani becomes the first batter in the history of world cricket to hit a triple hundred on their first-class debut.

Brahmos supersonic cruise missile successfully test-fired from INS Visakhapatnam

  • India successfully test-fired a naval variant of the advanced supersonic BrahMos cruise missile from a stealth guided-missile destroyer of the Indian Navy.
  • The Indian Navy’s warship INS Visakhapatnam carried out a test firing of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile off the western seaboard.

CoinDCX announces strategic alliance with risk monitoring firm Solidus Labs

  • CoinDCX, India’s crypto unicorn, and crypto exchange announced that it is making crypto-native risk monitoring firm Solidus Labs its strategic compliance partner.
  • The partnership with Solidus will forge greater trust and transparency on its platform, and cement its leadership as India’s number one digital asset exchange.

India’s first Biosafety level-3 mobile lab launched in Nashik

  • India’s first Biosafety level-3 containment mobile laboratory was launched in Nashik.
  • The mobile laboratory has been set up to investigate newly emerging and re-emerging viral infections that are highly infectious and of lethal potential to human beings.
  • The mobile laboratory provides a public health solution to this problem.

Sebi rejigs advisory committee on alternative investment policy

  • SEBI has reconstituted its alternative investment policy advisory committee, which advises the capital markets regulator on a range of issues that impact further development of the AIF space.
  • The committee has now 20 members, as per an update by the SEBI.
  • The committee is chaired by Infosys co-founder N R Narayana Murthy.
  • The panel, which was constituted by SEBI in March 2015, earlier had 22 members.

PM Modi Inaugurates Drone Manufacturing Facilities of Garuda Aerospace

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has virtually inaugurated the drone manufacturing facilities of Garuda Aerospace at Manesar in Gurugram and Chennai.
  • This year, the Budget announcements had prioritized technology and innovation and mentioned the use of Kisan drones among the varied sectors wherein drones can be used.
  • The Chennai-based Garuda Aerospace is a drone-as-a-service (DAAS) company.

International Mother Language Day to be celebrated as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav

  • Under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, on the occasion of International Mother Language Day, the Ministry of Culture, Government of India is organizing a two-day event for 21st – 22nd February 2022 at Indira Gandhi National Center of Arts, New Delhi.
  • The theme of 2022 is : “Using technology for multilingual learning : Challenges and opportunities”.

MoU Signed between Ministry of Tourism and Alliance Air Aviation Limited

  • The Ministry of Tourism in order to boost tourism throughout the country signed a Memorandum of Understanding with M/s Alliance Air Aviation Limited (AAAL).
  • The MoU was signed with a view to achieve the common purpose of joint domestic promotion and considering the need to synergize the activities of MoT and AAAL in the tourism markets.

Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways & AYUSH virtually flagged off the Water Taxi for citizens of Mumbai.

  • Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways & AYUSH Shri Sarbananda Sonowal today virtually flagged off the ‘Most Awaited’ Water Taxi for citizens of Mumbai, from Belapur Jetty.
  • The Water Taxi services will commence from the Domestic Cruise Terminal (DCT) and will also connect nearby locations at Nerul, Belapur, Elephanta island, and JNPT.

Government approves ‘ New India Literacy Programme, a new scheme of Adult Education for FYs 2022-27”

  • Government-approved a new scheme “New India Literacy Programme for the period FYs 2022-2027 to cover all the aspects of Adult Education to align with National Education Policy 2020 and Budget Announcements 2021-22.
  • The National Education Policy 2020 has recommendations for Adult Education and Lifelong Learning.
