1. Indore bags cleanest city award for 6th year, Surat Retains 2nd Rank; M.P ranks first among States
- President Murmu presents awards to cleanest States and cities in Swachh Survekshan 2022.
- Madhya Pradesh got the first position among States, followed by Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra.
- Indore was adjudged the cleanest city for the sixth time in a row followed by Surat and Navi Mumbai with populations of above one lakh.
2. 25% extra seats to be created for foreign students in Universities, HEIs: UGC guidelines
- The University Grants Commission (UGC) said that Higher Educational Institutions can now create up to 25 percent supernumerary seats for foreign students while adopting a transparent admission process for them.
- A seat remained unfilled in the supernumerary category, shall not be allocated to anyone other than an international student.
3. Ministry of Jal Shakti To Celebrate Swachh Bharat Diwas, 2022 on 2nd October
- The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS), Ministry of Jal Shakti will be commemorating the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi as Swachh Bharat Diwas (SBD) on 2nd Oct 2022.
- DDWS implements two flagship programs of the central government viz; Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) and Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).

- Sujoy Lal Thaosen is currently working as the director general (DG) of the border guarding force Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and holding the additional charge of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police
- The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) DG post fell vacant on Friday after IPS officer Kuldiep Singh (1986-batch) retired.
5. Telangana government hikes ST reservation from 6% to 10%
- The Telangana government raised the reservation for Scheduled Tribes (ST) by 4 per cent in the state’s educational institutes and government services with immediate effect.
- The ST reservation in the state has been increased from 6 percent to 10 percent.
- The government has announced the decision keeping in mind the state’s 10 per cent ST population.
6. China withdraws anti-AUKUS resolution at IAEA due to lack of support
- Under the AUKUS alliance, Australia plans to acquire at least eight nuclear-powered submarines.
- The alliance has largely been seen as a response by the three countries to the increasingly aggressive and assertive behaviour of China across the Indo-Pacific.
- India successfully scuttled China’s attempt to pass an anti-AUKUS (Australia, UK and the US) resolution at the IAEA meet.
7. New debit, credit card rules kick in from Oct 1 with tokenization
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has made it mandatory for all credit and debit card data used in online, point-of-sale, and in-app transactions to be replaced with unique tokens by September 30 this year.
- This added layer of security by way of tokenisation is expected to enhance users’ digital payment experience.

- Senior Indian Space Research Organisation Scientist A K Anil Kumar has been elected as the Vice- President of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF).
- Anil Kumar is currently working as Associate Director, ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC).
- IAF is the world’s leading space advocacy body with 433 members in 72 nations.
9. Writer-academic Madhav Hada to be awarded 32nd Bihari Puraskar
- Writer Dr. Madhav Hada will be awarded the 32nd Bihari Puraskar for his 2015 literary criticism book ‘Pachrang Chola Pahar Sakhi Ri’, the KK Birla Foundation announced.
- Named after the famous Hindi poet Bihari, the award is given every year for an outstanding work published in the last 10 years by a Rajasthani author in Hindi or Rajasthani.
- It carries a cash prize of ₹2.5 lakh.
